The Burch Type OHB Belt Grinding Heads are specifically engineered to finish and polish bonnets, lids, and frames used in brewhouse equipment (e.g. lauter tuns), tanks, and process vessels. Available in both stationary and portable configurations, the system is designed to handle bonnet diameters from 2.5 m up to 15 m with frame heights up to 1.5 m.
With a 7.5 kW motor, this grinding head delivers high torque and stable operation. The adjustable grinding pressure (0–600 N) allows precise surface contact control, minimising material removal while ensuring effective finish smoothing. The contact wheels have a diameter of Ø 340 mm and a width of 80 mm, matched to the large curved surface of vessel hoods. The modular design lets you configure the system with a grinding head carrier and a bonnet turning device, enabling automated indexing and controlled finish motion.
Use cases include smoothing weld seams, blending the hood-to-frame joint, and preparing surfaces for final polishing or coating. The portable version allows on-site finishing, while a fully integrated system enables high-throughput production in fabricator shops.
